Cheapest/Easiest way to add bass control knob?

Thats right bishes...
Just curious what the easiest way to do this would be. I really like having a remote bass control next to the drivers seat, and ive been looking around and the cheapest thing i have found in my limited search was a soundstorm crossover that had a bass knob, but it was like 85 bucks. I dont really need the crossover since my amp has that, but is there anyway to have just a standalone bass control or is that not possible? Thanks in advance.

Im assuming your brand/model of amplifier does not have a bass control knob option of its own then...?

you are correct. it has one on the amp, but not any remote type of bass control. i want to be able to turn just the bass up and down with a knob by the driver seat.

my amp however does have an input for this unit..

the KCE-511M amplifier link unit, but it seems **** near impossible to find.

those other bass knobs seem like what i want, although i thought you WERENT supposed to adjust the gain level after setting it? or do those only go up to the max amount that i set the amp for?

That's how the remote adjustment for my Diamond D61500.1 works.

It's not actually a remote "bass" knob, per se, but rather a remote gain adjustment.

When the remote knob is wide open (all the way clockwise) it is equal to whatever the gain setting is on the amp. Anything less than that, obviously, is lower.

But I don't even use it - the knob and its associated cord are still in the box the amp came in.

As far as gains go I'm a "Set It & Forget It" kinda guy.

ok, i can understand that. excuse the newb, but basically gain=bass. correct? Higher the gain, the higher the bass, but you dont want to clip the amp so you set it at a certain point before that happens. With a proper "remote gain knob" or whatever you want to call it, it should stop before the amp clips. Ok, so how do i know if these aftermarket ones will do that? i suppoes i should email the seller?

prowler, how do you turn the bass down without turning the volume down in your vehicle if you dont use the knob?

My headunit has a dedicated level adjustment for the signal on the subwoofer preamp outputs like most HUs that feature 3 sets of preamp outputs. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

ya, i figured as much. im using stock headunit so that (hopefully) nobody will steal my sht. which is why i need a knob for it.

Youre on the right track but not there quite yet. When you play music through your HU it sends a small voltage through the RCAs, which goes into the amp, and it amplifies the signal to whatever wattage your amp is rated at. Since some HUs have different Preamp voltages, thats where gain comes in. The gain deals with these differences by amplifying or unamplifying the RCA signal. The higher the gain, the more wattage the amp puts out until it is driven to its max output and clips.

Youre using the stock HU, so in order to use one of those gain knobs you will have to use it with a LOC if you already have one or you will need to get one.

i actually did check out the one in your sig.
im not sure what you mean by the passive stuff, speak in laymans? im new to this stuff.
not being powered, i don't know how it can amplify the signal, only decrease it. Passive tone controls only go from 0db down to nothing, not boost.

Anyway, I stumbled onto this one day, bought it and loved it.

hmm..ok. i think i get it now. So now my question. Am i able to set these knobs max to what i want the amp max to be? Or do i have to just watch how far i turn the knob up?

I would imagine that i can install it at the max, then set my amp, and then be able to turn it down from that point and max it at that point. But as ive never had any experience with this, im not sure.
