Friend of mine is looking for a budget amp that will do 1-1.5k so im gonna give him a few reccomendations. I was thinking a audiopipe 1500 or boss 1500? Scratch the boss... None will do 1.5kW. You could look into Hifonics, AudioPipe (as stated), Lanzar (OptiDrive's), Directed (I picked up a Directed 1100D for $90 on eBay, and it was the good older model). It's just about knowing what a good brand is, and waiting for the right deal, and not trying to find a "1500 Watt" amp so you can show off.

not trying to get a "1500 watt" amp to show off. Looking for actual power for the install. I had seen a few threads on here about the AP1500 amp and it was supposed to be right around 1500rms i think, for like 200? Which apparently shared the same board with crunch gp1500 and some others. Hes not really looking for used. Ill check out on those directed amps though as well.

Don't go maxxsonics. Which in your case will include Hifonics, Crunch, and Autotek. They are over rated in most cases.

For a budget amp, look into a audioque, but I would save for a sundown.

I like how everybody just says "save up" blah blah blah that's obviously not what the guy wants to do.

The Crunch Amps and the Hifonics are good budget amps, ask Db-r he knows a thing or 2 about amps. Lanzar is a good choice to tho, and all the test I've seen done on the audiopipes puts them right at about rated power.

The budget Hifonics amps don't really impress me. We swapped out a Brutus 1600 or whatever the thing is called for a Kicker 1500.1 and it got pwned hard by the Kicker. We didn't meter the difference, but the change it output was very audible.

I saw an older directed 1100d on ebay hovering around 80 bux right now, see if you can snag that for a good price

i have a lanzar htg2600d, it will do between 1200-1400 watts. you can find them cheap and mine cheap.

You get what you pay for. Maxxsonics amps are pretty power hungry and require a stronger electrical system than say a sundown-1500d.

You can get a refurbished 1500d from db-r.com for about 400 bucks.
