i have this amp i got for free a while ago.. and i realized that it sucks, i dont know how theres 1600 max power.. but only 160 rms? but anyways.. im wondering how this amp would be powering my 4 50rms each speakers.. so each speaker would get about 40, probably not even, compared to the 18 rms from my headunit..

would i be better off powering my speakers off of my headunit or should i put in this amp? what should i expect if i do? will it sound all crappy?

system in sig.

It will almost undoubtedly push more power than your HU, but not by a lot. Some speakers won't even acknowledge the difference between 10 and 40 watts, some will come alive with the extra power. It depends on a lot, mainly how well they are installed.

Anyway, I rant. If you think it is worth the effort to install, by all means try it out and tell us what you think. If not, you can always sell it.

EDIT, it would help if I answered some of the questions, too. =p

"would i be better off powering my speakers off of my headunit or should i put in this amp?"

- No absolute answer to this, try both.

"what should i expect if i do?"

- It will probably get louder. It might sound different.

"will it sound all crappy?"

- Couldn't tell you. I have never messed with a Cuspid amp nor do I know what speakers you have. For all I know either could be damaged. I will tell you that the experience of installing it could be worth more than the gain in sound quality.

Do it! Are you still using the factory wiring to each of your door speakers? If so, simply running some nice new 16ga. speaker wire directly from the speakers to an amp in the back, rather than the hu will make a difference in sound quality, and the amount of power that actually MAKES it to the speakers.

My first car/system i had was a kenwood hu wired up to 4 kenwood components (your typical best buy sound system, gotta start somewhere) and i was content with the system, but i bought a cheapo sony-knockoff amp, and did a weekend project to rip the whole car apart (01 jetta, not an easy car to learn on) and rewired the entire car, and those speakers sounded soooooo much better, with just 20-30 watts more a piece.
