Charging a deep cycle with a power supply

I have a 55a 13.4v power supply. It has a setting for quick charging

batteries that bumps it up to 14.2v. However, it does not have anything that

tells me the battery is done charging.

I purchased a lanzar distro block with a Volt and Amp meter for the power supply:

Could I tell when a battery is done by the amperage draw dropping or something?

I dont know that i'd trust that D block to tell u the float or anything..

Get a DMM

technically an ammeter will work.....

when it is drawing under 2 amps of current it is nearly all the way charged. Doubt if you get it to miliamps of draw but when it gets below 2amps for sure you are close. The batteries will naturally start drawing less current as they become charged.

Yup, marine batteries were what we used to use back in the early 90's late 80's before agm cells were really out there

You should see a combination of both voltage and amperage drop near the end of the charge process. That distro block might be OK, but I would trust a good DMM before I would trust that distro.

Can you use Deep Cycle/marine batteries on car audio?

Most of the car audio specific batteries are deep cycle batteries. You should never use anything but a deep cycle battery for car audio applications. If you were to run your music for more than a few minutes on a starting battery, you could kill it on the first attempt.
