channels?

mono is a sub amp, 2 channel is for 2 speakers, 4channel is for 4 speakers multi channel is usually 5 or 6 channels for 5 or 6 speakers. Bridgable means that you can make 2 channels into 1 more powerful channel

if you have 2 subs, we need to know what the power rating is on them. if it has a low rms rating, then you could use a 2 channel amp and run one sub off off each channel of the amp. if you use a mono channel amp (mono=1) then you could run one amp for each sub.

more accurately a channel is a distinct signal. eg, front-left, front-right, ect... a 4 channel amp could be used for stereo sound with front-rear fade. or it might be used for front-only stereo sound with a bridged channel for subwoofer use. in the future, it might be used for 4 channels (of the 6) of a 5.1 audio system. advanced users might find other uses for extra channels other then different speaker locations. eg, they might run tweeters off of 1 channel and midranges off of another channel.*

i mention this because for subwoofers, it is common to hook multiple subwoofers to a single amplifier channel.

*if you don't know why you would do this, then don't. i list it only as an example of something that advanced users might do. this is "biamping" and requires extra steps beyond simply plugging the speakers into an amp.
