Changing head unit JVC->JVC

Hi everyone, in my car I currently have a cheap JVC KD-G140 (similar to the KD-R210 being sold now). I am looking to upgrade to a newer one, most likely the KD-R900.

I've never installed a car stereo before, so I'm wondering if this would be an easy switch. Can I use the same wires and everything connected to my current head unit? The only difference I can see is that the 900 has an extra wire for steering wheel controls, which I don't have/need.

Thanks for any input!

most of the time it will work

when you get the new radio, look at the harness to make sure the wires are the same color and that they are in the same spot

if you are in doubt, cut the harness and use the new one, it shouldnt take more than 10 min to get a new harness wired up.
