Changing coil impedance on sub

If I want to change my coil configuration on my sub from a dual 2 to a dual 1, do I have to do a complete recone?

You could always use an impedance matching transformer if you're trying to wire to a different load on the amp. I don't know of any place to get one though. I know Rockford used to sell one a while back.

All they do is get hot and leach power from the amp.
