change my amps to JL?....

why would u say jl is not worth it, for only fifty bux. if it were any other brand and it doubled the power for only fifty more would say it wasnt worth it.
the amps he has are fine, and put out plenty of power for his needs, and with all the recent failures I have heard about and seen a few at comps this past year of the JL amps, espically the 1000/1 I would stick with what he has

i'm just going to stick with what i got. i would have swapped out the amps on a trial basis, but the shop doesn't have a 300/2 in stock, and they dont stock the 1000/1, i would have to order it, at which point, i would have to buy it.

i dont know why i get the sudden urge to jump into a new product, but thats why i posted here, so someone can tell me to snap out of it and not waste my time and money.

thanks guys, your help has been appreciated.

Are you sure about that? That doesnt sound right to me considering they have such a highly regulated power supply that they say they will put out the rated power from anything like 4ohms down to 1ohm no matter what the input voltage is. This just doesnt sound right to me. Allthough I had a fascinating idea today tho, i got to thinking, what if you could somehow "hack" into the regulating circuit of the amp and make it put out more power by making it see a different input voltage or ohm load than there really is? Im sure its possible, just think of how much power they could put out if someone was to do this. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/omg.gif.05aa02c3095d6ce9338996654eca0863.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/idea.gif.5acb6a39a9b92425414c316dda202bad.gif
I remember seeing a review of it that gave the results of a benchtest. I'll have to try to dig that up somewhere.

If I wasn't being lazy, I'd already have the review linked into the database and easily searchable, but until I get the front-end finished, it's not going to happen. Sigh, here's another example of where this db would be so nice to have done.

Denim, exactly what is the failure on 1000/1?

one had a power supply burn out, another had a few internal connections go bad, which ones I dont remember, I just remember seeing the inside of the amp, every amp as has fialures, but for the cost of the JLs I would have expected a little less thats the way I see it

the 300.2 makes 75 watts x 2 @ 4 ohms, the 300/2 makes 150 watts x 2 @ 1.5-4 ohms, so i'll be getting double the power to my HEX's with the 300/2.for reference, the 1200.1 makes 1200 watts x 1 @ 1 ohm.
However, doubling the power will not double the sound, if you like your SQ now why take the chance of getting the new amps and not liking what you hear. Even if its louder it may not be as clean sounding as what you have now. Just something to think about.

Why not just get the diamond 600/2. It delivers 150 watts x 2 a 4 ohms. Why go through all the hassle when Bryan will probibly by your amp for 300??? Just get the more powerfull diamond and save your money.

wow, talk about digging up a grave here, anyways, i'm sticking it out with diamond, getting a D7152, so i'll finally have my 150watts x 2.

hey parker, how do you like them cdt's?

i sure hope brian buys my 300.2, he doesn't get paid for another 2 weeks, but i think he's looking to get rid of his concept amp for something better, put in a good word for diamond audio will ya //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

i wont be there tomorrow, but i'll be there tuesday, just let the guys there listen to them, they have the same tastes as me usually, so whatever they think, i'll probably think the same //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

If you gonna upgrade an amp get rid of your 300.2 and upgrade to the 600.4 D5 amp. Im runnin hex's and a 15 tdx off of a 600.4 and 1200.1 and it sounds better than my buddys JL set up. Stick with Diamond Audio.

last bench testing on the jl amps I saw were 300/2 making 173 w rms per ch....... 300/4 89.2 w rms per ch......... 500/1 646 w rms per ch....... 1000/1 1480 w rms per ch

this is why I went all JL..... blew away the same thing in rf and kicker in the bass room at the local shop

granted they are more money
