What the advantages and disadvantages for putting chambers or without chambers in a box? (if that makes sense)

The only advantage to having separate chambers is added bracing and that if for some reason one sub craps itself the other sub will not be exposed to an overly large box volume. The downside is having to use a bigger box, separate ports(and because of that, longer ports), which leads to using more MDF and spending more money.
