alts are designed to maintain voltage in the system, not charge a battery. this is why when you buy a new alt its recommended to charge the battery before starting the car and running it. because if you try to put a dead battery with an alt it will kill the alt.

also, providing i keep this battery charged well (batcap 800)..and my big 3...and zero gauge wiring....would i be ok to run 2000w rms? alteast until i can get a HO alternator....

as long as you aint trying to wang it at full tilt all the time and charge your batcap every so often. i charge my rear batts every other week if not more. as long as you keep your batts charged it will "help" relieve strain on your alt

it doesnt charge the bat. only maintain the voltage in the system. i will IM you more if you would like bro. but thats honestly the jist of it. an alt of todays world isnt designed to charge a bat, whether it be HO or regular alt. now as i said before if you had one of the older cars that ran a generator then yes you would be capable of of charging your batts slightly off your generator
