CES Fi Style!

Fi wont be using that basket series at all. Keeping that for AA to help differentiate things further. One other OEM client will get it as well... and thats it. Trying to keep things exclusive and enforce things further.

Bball09124... Either an EE or ME degree is usually the basis for speaker designers. There arent really too many programs out there specific to speaker designers. Mostly just for acoustics and noise control. Just play with speakers and get a solid measuring system to see what changes do. Usually just knowing people in the industry is an in, not a ton of opportunities out there... but having a solid foundation in what makes things tick and how to measure them is key. On the job training is usually what happens the first go around or two, but that piece of paper saying you know something and then having a solid base of how things work is what will get your foot in the door.

Seems Pioneer is constantly hiring in trade magazines, although those I know that have worked for them couldnt stand it.

Will the 22s be available anytime soon, and hopefully operate in less than 10 cubes?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

BTL version will definitely work in less than 10cuft. BL... well that remains to be seen how well it will, although it "will".

As far as time frame goes. We hope to get a final sample (after a couple of small changes) before Chinese New Year starts. If not itll be another 2 week wait. Once approved we will make more driver samples for specs as well as get things on the ocean for baskets. Surrounds and rubber gasket are already in the works... cone bodies outside of what we have worked with via vacuum bagging and composites are not final. The more people know about it the more people seem to want some of the lower lines in that size... which means we will probably tool a paper cone as well.

3-4 months before its all settled and shipping.

Thanks,

Scott

If you're interested in getting into speaker design, your starting point will probably be a testing position with a larger company. Take a look at the ALMA job listings to see what type of things they want. Usually it's a degree in Physics, ME, EE, or related; and you should have knowledge of measuring systems (LMS supplemented by practical knowledge of Klippel will take you a long way). Keep your eyes open for internships, also: I noticed that Harmon Intl has had one open the last couple summers.

edit: Very interesting pictures.

Exactly what I am trying to do by getting my EE degree. I am also talking to my contacts in the industry to see if they could help me out at all as well.

Sweet Deal , Maybe just in time for the summer bass comps //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif ..

Finally home..very long flights.

None the less I think Scott has most of the questions answered...if you have emailed me in the past few days I have not replied to anybody's query's.

I plan on sitting down tomorrow evening and getting everything taken care of and caught up from our CES adventures.

Thanks!

-Nick

thats like over 2 18s lolol
Not even close. Two 18's would have approx 25% more cone area. One 22 would be approx somewhere between a pair of 15's and a pair of 18's. Strictly speaking in terms of cone area. For output purposes, it would generally be better to have more motors to disperse the heat through.
