cerwin vega vmax. your thoughts?

ive heard theyre ok. i posted this also, but went a different route.it should do fine for everyday bumpin around.dont know about ib though.id do a ported box to their recomendations, like 34cubes with 40 inches of port 20 inches long or something, its on the vega website.

i have that it is loud and my older brother said that they were a pretty good brand back when he was a youngin (now 35). anyone know if it will be ok in an IB set up? im looking for awesome SQ with a lil thump. this is my first time with car audio and not sure how to go about with it. i like the idea that IB saves soo much trunk space.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

No exp with the vmax but Vega was known for there efficiency in the lower line drivers. 95+ I ran a set of the 12" Vega series back in the day and they can get loud on a little power.

I'm a Cerwin Vega fan so if I had a chance I would probably try them if I could. I've heard that the new Vmax are pretty good for the money but I liked the classic red surrounds on the older model.

Regardless I would never buy them for an SQ setup. If you want SQ in small space I'd look into the Dayton HO series in a sealed box. The HOs cost about the same as the Vmax, maybe just a little more, but would me much better in terms of SQ.

But since you already have one, then you should definitely try it out.

I've had good results with the HED for SQ. I had the silver coned 15's and I just recently did an install with the black ones and they sound great. These were sealed. Just Sayin.

thanks for the response guys! i'll definately try it out. i'll let you know in about a week once its in. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

okay so i finally got everything in. set the gains with a multimeter.

i have pg rsd's running at 120rms

and the vmax running close to 600rms.

the problem is that the rsds are over powering my sub like crazy

the vmax is in an IB set up

also i hear engine noise from speakers which is due to a bad rca cable which is hooked up from my front stage amp to the sub amp. what do you guys think i should do?

well yeah that's obvious. but what i mean is i don't think the woofer is keeping up with the rsd's. i might just put it in a ported box, but i like the smooth bass response im gettin in the IB. thing hits hella low!
