Is this censorship doing any good? It is for sure not allowing links to scientific websites just because the word s e x is in the topic or url. Why are we censoring non curse words? Or anything for that matter????

It’s still a car audio site, even though the off-topic threads gets 90% of the posts. The vitriol spewed on the site contains some of the worst language known to man-kind and gets the page flagged by advertisers and demonetized. S e x and other like words get flagged the harshest. I imagine most of the members don’t want to see the toxic language. Just trying to clean it up the best I can, so it can survive.

There in lies the problem. People that think they are offended by normal words like s e x and a s s. You want to know why sites don't last anymore... shit like this.

No attitude at all. There is no emotion attached to text. That is why we invented colorful metaphors. I have no reason to have an attitude. I am thinking all the arguing in the off topic thread has kept everyone on edge so they just expect attitude from everyone. I assure you, I am in no way upset or with attitude. I have been slacking way off on posting in there. As you can see, as many of us has said before, the root of the arguments is still posting loud and proud. Always in opposition to continue the drama.

My point here was that a broad censor limits what can be shared with other members and all for what? Because some guy in MN can't stop making people on this forum mad or can't stop insulting people in the highest office in the land? You think that can't be flagged or watched by outside sources? How many times can a person call the President a SP or R*pist before it lands on someones desk?

Also... it's not all about cussing. Some words get censored because people think they are cuss words or are ashamed to speak them. Like *****. A female dog. Known in most of the world. ***, a Donkey. You get my point. I would say as long as people aren't directing specific words AT people then we should be fine. One would hope anyway.

I am sorry if I came off as having an attitude. I promise, there was none.

I've said it a couple times already. I wouldn't blame you for closing the Current Events Thread. It gets pretty bad and extremely unprofessional in there. I would be a little scared off if I were a new member and/or advertiser. It brings a lot of negativity.

I don’t mind off-topic discussion at all, it keeps the site alive. Just against the harsh vitriol that sometimes happens. I know politics is one of the most touchy subjects that exists and it brings out the worst in everyone along with expletives. As long as it’s civil it can help a forum like this survive these days, especially with all the AI. It’s really killed the DIY question/answer sites. But as proven here, AI doesn’t always give the right answers, so I’m glad forums like this still exist. Sorry Hal you try!

The worst in people.... I would swing that a different way and say it allows the person to show who they really are. The person who never gets out because if it did in society they may just loose their ways of living, friends and or other things. Right now it seems that who people really are is acceptable to be out in public and they are choosing to clash with somewhat rational people and now there is a national divide in the country.
