Hey anyone know about those little things you can buy to put in your phone thats supposed to give you a better signal?

They look kinda like a postage stamp and they go under your battery or something. Does anyone know if they work or not? I dont have hardly any signal anywhere and I was just wondering.

Thanks!

Ehh, I'd pass. You can't rewrite the laws of physics - at the UHF and microwave frequencies your cell phone is on, the little antenna it comes with is already a good fraction of the wavelength. Any more is bogus.

I think what the little "antenna boosters" are doing is providing a better ground plane for the antenna to work against, but even then it's iffy.

If you're looking for better reception from home, it's a good idea to put up an external antenna. There are also mobile antennas that I'm sure you've seen on cars (the glass mount variety).

I'll sell you 10 for $10, its a deal....i guarantee that they will improve your reception sometimes! Especially if you use them to stick your phone to a cell tower

Yes and no.

Where I live, no carrier has reliable cells that go out this far...I'm in analog roaming for any carrier I've tried, and nobody is willing to guarantee that I'll be in their digital range where I am.

Sometimes a better antenna is the only way.

tried verizon on a tri-band fone yet?
I won't use Verizon out of principle...they're simply too unethical for me to even think about supporting as a customer. They're one of the few companies like that for me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

why and who else?

(just curious)

Exxon is another that comes to mind...

Failing to take appropriate action after one of your captains causes one of the worst ecological disasters in history because he was drunk on the job is not something to be proud of in the corporate world...

I also refuse to purchase a new GM vehicle if it has Onstar installed, unless I can find a way to completely disable it (which is probably very easy, all you need to do is disconnect the antenna lead and power to the transmitter unit). I'd rather not have my every move tracked and recorded...
