Cell Phone Programming...

Anyone know how to get a PRL onto a phone?

Basically, me being the type of person I am, was experimenting with the "Test" mode on my phone & basically ended up erasing everything (phonebook, ringers, messages, etc.). Oh well about that. The big thing is I erased my PRL & any system programming I do for the phone is useless, since the PRL defines what "networks" I can connect to. Anybody a Verizon rep that deals with programming?

Phone is a Samsung sch-a650

I have a usb cable & use bitpim / gagin to put ringers on it. So if the PRL is just something where I throw it onto the file system, all I need to know is the file format.

did you make a complete filesystem back up before you did anything with bitpim?
Haha....you're talking to someone who's formatted his [only] hard drive countless times in High School trying to crack the program DeepFreeze which deletes any changes made to a hard drive once you reboot. In other words, no.

go to a verizon store, they have to do a full restore. nothing out in the public world will let u do this easily.
Again, hahaha. That's what p*ssies do. I'm just playin', but your keyword is easily. It can be done. Enough googling has led me to find

a) a program to create PRLs

b) PRLs where verizon is listed

c) a program to transfer that PRL to the phone

Now really, I'm guessing I just have to encode the right info into the PRL file & I'm done. This is gonna take more research as #1) general PRL files are binary, and #2) I have no "reference" PRL. The PRLs I've found in letter b above, are textual interpretations of the binary PRL.

For example, if I had an existing PRL, I could grab that off the phone, open it up in the PRL Editor, add/remove some entries/change carrier priorities, and save it back to the phone. But I don't have an existing PRL to start with....I have to make it from scratch.

HOWEVER....anyone with a Samsung sch-A6XX and maybe even sch-a9xx phone, with a usb/serial data cable, with working [verizon] service...let me know.

Going to Verizon is my last option as messing with the PRL is illegal & violates the phone & service TOS. So in the meantime, I'm just thinking of good excuses to tell them of why I have no PRL.

I have the tools, now I just have to put it all together...it will be done.

Man, today has just been hours of googling.
