Cell phone in dash

This might be a stupid question, but anyhow.

With the processors and apps in cell phones today, it would be nice if you could just plug it into your in dash lcd screen. the indash lcd screen mimicing your cell phone screen, and your indash touch screen control your cell phone. Has this ever been done or even possible?

I've seen iPads installed and acting like headunits... but I don't know about cellphones.

I guess it would be a regular headunit and maybe the aux input that would control your cellphone.
