cell phone esn # help

i just purchased a cell phone off craigslist and the lady i bought it from didnt clear the esn #. i contacted her and asked her to do it and she said she would. but i havent heard back from her and am not sure if she did.

from what i was told, that once the contract is cancelled/up that it automatically clears....

here contract is cancelled but when i went to get it activated the esn wasnt clear.

questions:

how can i check to see if the esn # has cleared?

if it hasnt, is there a way that i can clear it instead of her? (to speed up the process)

if there is, how do i do it?

btw, its a motorola q and its an alltel carrier

U have to call the carrier for that info. She prolly owes money and until thats paid off the phone is useless

Are you sure it's not a stolen phone? Usually once the person transfers their phone # to a new cell phone or ends their contract the esn should be all set. You should call alltel and explain the situation. If the esn had been reported stolen you're screwed.
