CDT HD-62's

heh.
Rated 175RMS.

I have an amplifier, the Precision Power PCX4125.

Here are my options:

1. Run the amplifier in two-channel mode. This will supply 500wRMS x 2 at 4ohms. The component set will be running passive.

2. Run the amplifier in four-channel mode. This will supply 125wRMS x 4 at 4ohms. The component set will be running active.

let me know what you think I should do.

i would run it stereo off the front 2 channels for 125 watts. 500 is a little too much imo and even if they could handle that, that seems like a lot of wattage in your front stage. if your front stage is properly setup you shouldn't need a lot of watts imo.

i think if i bridge it, i will have a hell of a time trying to keep the volume at a reasonable level. like how much does it take to be like "i really like this song pump it" and turn it up 3 notches higher than it should be at and break the thermal limits of the hd-62 midrange?

oh and keep in mind that these components will only see >200hz because i have kodas for lower than that.

you just have to know the limits of your speakers. if you bridge it i would afvice turning the gain all the way down. should still get loud enough without sending too much juice to destroy your speakers, providing you are careful with the volume control.

Yeah, the PG 15 band EQ and crossover.

It's really detailed on how exactly I'm going to cross everything over for suitable results, when I go active, but it will be possible. It's hairy.

Tweets - highpassed from amp (4k)

Midrange - lowpassed from amp(4k), highpassed from eq/xover(200)

Midbass - lowpassed from eq/xover(200), highpassed from amp(60)

Subs - lowpassed from amp(60)

I'd suggest trying the midrange at 200 and up without a lowpass filter on them. My CDT's sound totally different now with this setup. Due to my painted surfaces in my truck I was having "issues" and experimented with this setup...needless to say I will be alowing them to play as high as they want now. I'm currently hitting each channel with about 150 rms and they do well at moderately high volume, but I need to adjust my hp point on them...currently they are at 70...I just can't get the volume I;d prefer out of them and may bring them a bit higher...I understand your Kodas will EASILY take care of the midbass range though.
