CDT CL-61a and USX 4065??

I am finally getting ready to put in my system, just looking at comps (and maybe rear fill for my factory speakers, no sub yet)..... and I see all the chatter on these CDT speakers.... they seem like a great deal!

But, I already have the USX 4065 amp.... I was looking for comps/mids with bass to go with the amp, to compliment my new Alpine 9815....

Since my amp is 4x65 RMS, and the CDTs are 90 RMS, with these be really underpowered (and, more importantly, will they sound like crap)?

Can anyone help a newbie out? I have gotten pretty far with the deals I have found to date on the HU and amp.... it would be nice to be able to round this out with some half price comps!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Also, any suggestions on good (cheap) 6.5" rear fill for a Saturn SL2? I need something to hook up to my amp until I can save up for a sub...

Thanks for any/all help!!!

you will be happy with those CDTs and 65 watts....

a pair of those exact comps and a usx2080 will be at my doorstep tommorow for a friend...i will let you know how they sound after i install them this weekend.

My local shop cannot instal my Alpine 9815 for 3 weeks! The installation is free for the head unit, but I don't know if I can wait that long! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

So, giving the CDT CL-61's 65w RMS is not going to be too weak, since they call for 90w RMS? I have the USX4065, so I want to make sure the Speakers I connect to it will not be weak in my Saturn...

Thanks for any help/suggestions!

They get moving pretty nicely at 50 and above....I run 75 to mine and love it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Good to know.... thanks Gauntlet! Just ordered a pair... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

just installed the pair of the CL-61s today...great, great components. getting 80w RMS and the tweeter is so, so clear but not harsh at all. the midbass is good, not GREAT but perfectly acceptable. i would highly recommend these from thezeb.com for only 150 bucks...

why dont u just not get a rear fill then bridge 4 channel amp to ur components. Rear fill *****. u will sound plenty nice with only 65 watts anyway.

Ok, so bridging a 4-channel USX amp is a bad idea? Good to know....

I am really starting to lean towards picking up a sub, and amping the CL-61's and sub separately.... I just want my Alpine CDA-9815 to sound good!

Thanks for all the help everyone! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Thanks for the help Gauntlet.... looks like I should head over to the amp forum and start some searches!

I am leaning towards either the HE2 or an ED k 12", but I have another thread open on that in the sub forum.... I hate the idea of buying 2 more amps, and giving my USX4065 to my girlfriend! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Thanks for all the help!
