So i picked up a set of these a while ago for 60$ heres the link of them

My question is, A what do you think of the set? And is the xover approriate? i am pretty new with components so any help would be great... I was running them off a JL 300/2 and i got frustrated because they werent that loud (i havent deadend my doors yet) and they sounded like crap when i turned them up...

Is it the speakers? the Xover? or can they just not get too loud? im a little stumped, and ended up unplugging them because my pioneer 6x9's just blow them out of the water.....

so now i am looking for a new amp to run all four, and possibly new xovers? or looking to go active? im real confused.. thanks

Something is wrong.

My 61's can get very loud and not distort. They aren't the clearest of speakers, but for their price range they do very well.

I never had any probs with mine..and as i mentioned in a previous thread, they sounded alot better than the rsd's that one of my buddies have..crisper and louder.

I had them running passive with that crossover for most of the time, and it did its job flawlessly.

I run 300w rms to each crossovers, the same woofers and tw25 than you have. I've never heard car speakers that goes that loud! it's astonishing. I did switch the satnet-400 for another crossover that cross the woofers/tweeters at 3k 12db slope. Even with all that power, they keep playing like it was nothing.

Something is wrong. My guess is it's the install, not the speakers or crossover. For the price you paid I doubt you can get better speakers. With good power, they should sound good. Better than $60 should buy you.

you may have the crossover on the amp on full range or low pass, make sure it is on hi pass filter.

high pass are you sure? when i do that the 6x9 cone doesnt even move just the tweets...

have the amp on high pass and the xover on the amp anywhere from 80-120hz depending on how much power you are giving them

what do you guys have you hpf set to?

I am running 100rms to each channel and set the hpf at around 100hz because below that kinda scares me...

My set has always sounded great. Now running about 150wrms per side high-passed just below 60hz. Just recently deadened the doors too. ID's goin in when they get here though.
