so i got a cd8445 today.. hooked everything up using an aftermarket adapter, so i wouldnt have to splice... and it works fine, sounds GREAT, until i have to turn the headlights on, when the illumination feature is supposed to kick on, then the illumination feature flickers. it will cut out and in, anyone have any ideas? i double checked both the 12+ constant and ill wires and they are both fine.

I was looking at this HU yesterday online, why did you choose this over like a 880PRS or 780MP? If you got in online where did you get it? How do you like it so far compared to what you had before? Only hesitation I had on it was the 7-band EQ compared to the 880's which people say is much better..?

no, it wasnt wired wrong, i wired it myself initially. i bypassed the harness, grounded it to the frame, and it still didnt work. i wound up running a wire from the illumination to the headlamp fuse, and now it works fine, something in my vehicles wire harness jsut doesnt give a constant 12+ to the illum wire. i dont know, but its fixed now, and its my first eclipse, first experience with 8v pre outs, and all i can say is WOW, very impressed. i have always been an alpine man, but this ones got my mind workin //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

well, the only orange wire coming out of my headunit is orange and white... the illum wire as you know... the only dimmer wire coming through my factory wiring is solid orange... pin #3 on the pinout... i hooked it directly to that wire, thinking the harness may just have had a bad connection, and it still flickered, its almost like that wire has an inconsistant voltage coming through it, maybe the factory headunit only needs a slight amt of voltage?? but like i stated earlier... when i connect the illum wire to a constant 12+, the lights on the HU come and and stay on, no flicker, so i decided to run a wire from the illum on the HU to the headlight fuse, so when i turn the headlights on, the illum feature comes on, works fine even like that. i think my experience is something based in my vehicles wiring, but i got it to work now, even if it is "rigged" a bit. but all in all, the problem with mine i think is the vehicles wiring, MIGHT be the headunit, but at this point, i think i have personally ruled that out in my case.

Just for reference. I had the same problem. I just connected the orange/white wire to acc (red).
