CD7000 vs. 7998

Clearly my ears decieve me and I know absolutely nothing along with my installer/tuner... O well...
Don't let it get to you Derek ...... You get the last laugh actually, just knowing from experience what terrible sounding equipment they are defending //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif  //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

If only ONE person actually learns from your post , and avoids the costly mistake of buying the CD-7000 , well you get it ....... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

So, back to the issue at hand...

I have been using the 7000 since I bought it from Don back in April. My previous unit was a 9835, so it wasn't exactly a POS. Now I don't claim to have the ears of somebody who's been in the business for many years, so I won't make claims about the SQ comparison between the two. However, I will say that the Eclipse does not sound like sh*t or however somebody described it. There is an issue with hissing, which I have spoken to Don about and tried many times to troubleshoot; it has something to do with the RCA outputs on the 7000, but I'm thinking it's internal since I've tried everything else. Is it possible that some units are defective and only these units have the hissing / noise floor issue?

Also, it is true that you can pause a CD while playing it in the HU itself. BUT, you cannot pause a CD playing in the changer. The "3" button does nothing with the changer, and the "mute" button does just that - it mutes, it DOES NOT pause (yes this is retarded). My Alpine of course had a dedicated play/pause button that worked with both the HU and the changer.

Some of the complaints are kinda silly; the knob isn't that big, the unit isn't very flashy, and so what if you have to push the eject button again to close the unit after inserting a CD. Some of the complaints, though, are definitely legitimate. The knob IS very touchy: I have had way too many instances of trying to push in the knob to change the bass level and accidentally changing tracks or CDs in changer mode (talk about a pain in the as*). Also, the overall build quality is not on par with the Alpine, which had tighter fitting buttons with snappier response, sat deeper in the dash (rather than sticking out 1-1.5" like the Eclipse), had much nicer fonts on the display (easier to read when driving), and simply had a better user interface.

Some days I regret ditching the 9835, other days I like to tell myself I bought the Eclipse because it was supposed to sound better...

Yeah ..... The CD 7000 is absolute TRASH. Those who think it has good sound , simply do NOT know what real music sounds like. And yes .... the 7998 does indeed OWN the Eclipse.

Now , my conscience is clear //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

PS : I've never been flamed before , so please flame me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif  //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

But I'll still be correct ....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
once again, shut the fuck up. first off, sq is subjective, second off just because it didn't work for you doesn’t mean it wont work for anyone else... perfectly. go on about how you've owned this and that and you drive this and that and you've ran twelve HIGHEND audio shops blah blah blah. you're still full of shit and your opinion is far from the "word" on things. If it was, you wouldn't be trying to push your weight and use authority or god knows what.

Guess you did not have some of your uber $80 a foot tweeter wire hooked to it *LOL* I remember the post long ago when you talked trash about the cd7000 and how your car sounded much better than the other guys car you heard which automatically made the deck bad //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsupwink.gif.129404938effda6ad9cca39e7f4b58a3.gif *LOL* what a joke, you do not even know how review equipment. Also if it is such a pile of poo, why would you sell yours on here? Why not ebay it to someone that does not know better than you that it is so horrible. Why after telling us all what a pile of crap it was when it first came out did you then go and buy one?

Anyways, coming from a die hard "still die hard" alpine fan... I have owned such fine decks as the 7909, the 7909 re-release, the 7949 and 9835. I love alpine decks. But as of right this moment in my competition car that is under construction I bought a cd7000. I did a large writeup on it and also when I bought it.

Out of ALL the BS issues that have been described here, I have had none of them. The deck is simply a great deck with great tuning capability hands down. I have had the pleasure of first seting it up in very high end home audio setup to really get to know the deck and it's sound. What worked with it and what did not. I was very impressed and it sounded great. In car has been nothing but enjoyable. Now the deck did take me awhile go get to know it and all that it is capable of but once all the details are learned it is killer. Can it be compared to my 7949 copper chassis? Or my loved 9835? Yes it can with ease. If you know how to properly setup the cd7000 and actually set your gains properly / read a manual as with any deck, you will have nothing but enjoyment out of it. If your a whiny, Bi*tchy... expect everything to be great out of the box guy or a hard headed, know it all, phsyco acoustic speaking, smoke blowing retard that has never learned the deck or really worked with it... then no... you will not understand the deck or what it is capable of.

Is the deck perfect? Nope, it has it's share of flaws. Mainly how far it has to stick out of the dash in order to open and the none auto close are my biggest complaints but hey, I have learned to live with it. Would I buy this deck again after auditioning decks costing much more and having the freedom to buy whatever I want? Yeah I would. It is one of the best single din units I have used. The cd7000 is a great deal and bargain bottom line.

Good night party people!

Hey Blue, I forgot to add in my favorite line from you! "My only regret is that he is judging the wire without even hearing it."

And none of the above negative comments were directed at you blue, but I am sure everyone will think they are... wait.. does that mean... YEAH! People know exactly who I was talking about hahaha!!!!

Sorry man, you get under my skin worse than profilepower used to and I still am not sure which one of you smoked more pole.
