can this HU be used in conjuntion with a carputer setup?

I wanted to know if I connected a carputer to this head unit via usb will I be able to control the carputers music files as well as volume and etc?

I really want to try this carputer thing. I drive a 94 caprice so I have the room to hide this gadget behind the dash or in the center console and etc. my main concern is sound shaping and durablity. I don't want this thing falling apart on me because the bass is to much to handel. Also I don't want to loose a whole lot of sound quality either. I love my music loud and clean. I do belive ther is software that allows you to restore the sound quality of mp3's, wave, accvfiles and etc. I will research that some more. I paln to do my dash over with fiber glass and I plan on using either a 10"-15" touchscreen in the middle of the dash were the ac snd radio are now. I have looked at the product list megalomaniac gave and I decided to swap out a few things. I want to know if they will work.

That deck will not work with the carputer, there is no aux input, and i dont think that usb is meant for hooking up a computer, its meant for just hooking up a slaved storage drive.

durability is fine, as long as you mount everything!(so all the shock isnt hitting it hard)

I am looking at your list, seems like you will be needing a really beefy power supply now since you are now demanding power.

I am going to do a elaborate a/v setup and powering everything safley an efficently is my main concern. Here is a breif run down of my A/V setup 16 monitors ranging from 6" to 28" inches. Also a jvc HU along with my Carputer and 2 audio control X6s as well as a clarion EQ. Lastly about a little over 10,000 watts of amplifier power. As I was looking at various electrical parts that I will need for this monster car A/V setup and this little piece of equipment caught my attention and I was wondering if I would benifit from using this http://www.jegs.com/i/Jacobs%20Electronics/566/510064/10002/-1 ?

i really dont see a benefit. your computers powersupply is already voltage regulated, shouldnt make a difference...maybe someone else can elaborate more.

I just wanted to know if there was an upside to using that Accuvolt box with the carputer since I will be running a little more power than I guess most who run carputers. My main concern like I said before is safety then efficencey. I thought maybe that tthe accuvolt would be like extra protection agaiinst power surges or pikes. I am going all out and with this and I woulg be pissed if I over looked one small detail and this s*** goes up in smoke.

It's an ATX Mobo so it'll work fine...but that combo is overkill for a CarPC..

I'm still contemplating what I should do as fars sercuring my carputer parts.

My first idea was to buy a mid tower or small tower and place a few pieces of memory foam under the tower and or stack up sevral pieces of that dynapad or any type of extra dampening materialss to kill the vibrations and bolt the tower to the floor.beind the dash boars. My second Idea was to buil extra brackets behind the dash board and secure the computer parts to the extra brackets and tie the extra prakets to the cars o.m.e brackets Anyone has a suggestions? .

This question is for the carputer veterans. I was wondering does it matter what kind of sound card you use since everything is going threw you HU? I want to have more control over my sound. I realy belive carputers are going to be a car audio standard like amps and HU's. people want convience. To maximize this cards potential should I 86 the HU and run my amps and such straight to the sound card? or run my amps to my clarion EQ then run the EQ to the sound card? or should I run the sound card to the EQ and run the EQ to the HU then run the HU to my amps? I hope you all understand my giberish. If I had some kind of a diagram to illustrate things so it would make this simple to understand. All I want to do is utilize the 7.1 surround sound outputs. can somone help me? "Thanks for any help on this matter".

This is my thing on signal output. VOLTAGE!!! I dont think the PCs put out nearly as much as a nice HU. So, with that being said, in my truck I am no longer running a HU, I am running the PC straight to a 1/2 DIN Eq. and it also has a line driver, basically. So it should be very nice once done. Again, this is just my own opinion. My amps LOVE 5 to 8v line input.

I'm asking around to see if I can get a computer person to answer that question about the voltage. That line converter is a brilliant idea. I would of thought of that next year. lol! How much control do you have over ypur music as far as sound shaping? I knpw you have your Carputer ran through your EQ how is your sound? What type of after market equipment are you using(amps subs, comps and etc)?
