Carpetting

I am building an amp rack for my hatch back and the sides are sort of funny. I was wondering how I would go about getting it carpeted without having seams visible on top.

This is the general shape. Those curved corners arent really curved. They are more of a 45* angle:

The side cutouts would be all the way up against the seat. Those cutouts would hold the amp rack in place and keep it from sliding towards the back hatch. They would be contoured to fit the molding in the hatch. It would also be exactly wide enough across the hatch so it wouldnt slide from side to side. The depth of the wood would be exactly 15" to match the sub box. The box would sit on the left side of the amp rack, the amp would be mounted on the right side with a plexi glass cover.

Ill wait and see what Im covering it with. I want the carpet to match the box carpet. Should be a dark gray. I may go with black or a dark charcoal. The floor of my hatch is like a black/charcoal color felt with a false floor that covers the spare tire.

Yea, carpet will be easy to deal with. Just make sure your glue is tacky enough to hold the carpet in place. I would even suggest a few staples if you have a decent staple gun(or a cheap one and a hammer).

Ive got a good staple gun. Ill be using 3M Spray Adhesive. I just dont want to have visible seams. Ill also be wrapping the bottom of the board as well so that it sits totally flush and even.

use contact cement..... alittle trick someone showed me. you want it to be tacky, not wet, or you can bleed it through the carpet. the carpet can bae streatched and molded to an extent, to minimize the need for cuts/seams. is it just that one face that will be showing? it should be easy to wrap it down the sides and stretch that inner corner with the butt of a screw-driver or something. it may take a couple helper-hands to manipulate it, but possible. you can also pick/tear at the back-side of the carpet to get it to expand, and it will lay in place easier. it will be thinner in that area, but not instantly noticeable, like a seam
