carpet in the port?

would it be ok to put carpet or other fabric lining the inside of the port instead of painting it, or would i have a bad effect because the walls are no longer smooth. dont worry about the thickness of the carpet, i would account for that in the calculation.

if the port curves would i need to carpet the whole port anyways to keep the diameter the same size or is it small enough of a change that it wont matter?

i would but im going with 100 inches of port area and the port is huge and it just dosnt look good painted. covering would look much better but will not be worth it if it harms the sound/enclosure

It will be fine, painting black is just a prefrence.

If you dont want to paint, you could try using some vinyl and spray adhesive, or contact paper to line the port. They would have less drag on the air then the carpet if you're concerned with that.

Go ahead be a balla - Diamond plate it! Unless your like me, workin toward that 'balla on a budget status', then just vinyl it like kboyts said. I do some kinda design with some different colors if ya go vinyl....Black n white or black n red or blue...
