CARFAX > Scammer

I called a "private seller" about a car he had listed on Autotrader. I asked him if the car had ever been wrecked and his response was, "uh, not that I know of." I looked up that car on CARFAX and not only had it been wrecked, it had a salvage title.
Point of the thread: never buy used without running CARFAX.

That is all, unless someone has ideas concerning how to properly penalize this bastage.
If it didn't have a salvage title, then he could've bought it after it had been repaired. I probably would've believed him then, since he probably didn't know it had been wrecked before. Carfax doesn't always "catch" all accidents though. Some states don't give the police report information to Carfax, while others do.

Carfax is great, even for dealers. Sometimes if we're just trying to buy two or three cars at an auction, we'll buy them over the internet instead of driving two hours and basically wasting a day. The auctions have condition reports and they're great, but sometimes they won't show all the previous damage. We usually run a Carfax on them, just to make sure there hasn't been any previous damage.

we did, but i wacked it to the GG cuz i liked it.
