ok im 17 and i have a 96 ford explorer, the mpg sucks.. and i had the idea to go ahead and get a bike. wellll im looking at bikes around 450cc to 650cc

like a duel purpose bike one that can ride the street legally and to ride the hills, the bike size isnt a problem i ride with my friends brothers 450 and no problems...

and i have about $3000, and have found a few locally in that price range, the only problem is my parents somewhat disagree saying i will kill myself.. lol i personally think the idea is great, a bike to hit the hills and ride efficiently to school or other places.

everything said, the major problem, parents are sketchy on the idea, and say i will outgrow the bike riding and be into cars in the next few years...

from caraudio people knowledge would i most likely outgrow this even though i dont think i will; is this a bad investment?

Yes, it is a bad investment.

No cars, bikes are investments. Who even put that in your head, lol!

Save the money or look into a more fuel efficent car.

Your insurance on your bike would *** **** you for your age.

We all would love to have bikes, hell I would too as I had one when I was 19. I was young and dumb and got for stupid reasons. Didn't even last that summer and sold it. To much on the insurance and dumping it once was enought to warrant me to get rid of it.

buy a four banger in your price range. much better idea.

ya yaaa, i kinda see, but id just ride it alll summer and ride when weather is good, the explore is flawless in snow and has no problems, i kinda just dont want to spend all my dang money on gas...

but insurance would kinda ****.... its a mixup of things like what u need and what u want

and would u guy think a smaller cc bike would be any good?, like not a duel but like a yamaha 426f for around 1500?
