The proper equipment for your system will differ depending on what you are trying to do and how much you want to spend. Furthermore, when you say "successfull car system"...do you mean successfull in the IASCA SQ lanes or what? More information as to your goals and budget would help in making you a list.

what are your goals in car audio? do you want a system that is just going to be loud or do you want a system to produce quality music?

in case you don't know, the basics that you need are:

head unit (cd player)

amplifiers

front speakers

rear speakers

subwoofer(s)

now, simply state what type of sound your looking for and we can offer you further suggestions.
