Have an alpine cde136. have a kenwood KAC-8405 600 watt 4 channel amp. Kenwood runs 2 jl C5 650 components (front) and 2 rockford t1 components. Have 2 JL HD 750's running 2 JL W7's. Clipping occurs from the Alpine at a volume of 29 out of 35. The system was set with an o-scope. I gains were set by audio shop based off clipping at 29. The hd amp gains are set at 50 percent. I feel like the speakers, and subs could handle a smidge more power, or speakers themselves could have a louder cleaner sound. What would anyone suggest? Should I get a better head unit? or a better amp to run speakers. Subs are probably cool, because they are pretty **** loud. Any input would be appreciated.

if you were set on jl audio i would have bought 2 1000/1v2 slash amps instead of those hd amps if i were you those are meh compared to the slash
The hd's are supposed to produce cleaner sound. They definitely do. they actually put out 873watts, so good enough to power the 12's without distortion. As I'm sure you know, any sub sounds muddy, or distorts when I gets near, or over rms.

not always and those amps are not rated that much cleaner than a slash . slash amps are clean as it is .

They may be clean, but as I said, if I powered much more than 800, I would just be heating the suspension. I mean, how loud do I really need it? The hd's make the 12's hit hard, loud, but most of all.............. TIGHT. The lows that are hit are so phenomenal.
