----*There should be a forum for all of these electrical/capacitator/alternator questions:eek: (Oh, wait - there is;) )

neither will make ur car "drive slower". slap whoever told ya that. but ss3079 is correct...get the new alt(or urs rewound). that should cease the dimming.

I agree, proceed with the slapping...I just wanted to know what he was talking about. Maybe hes a ricer and thinks a cap will add too much weight to the car and in turn slow it down. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Dude its all about weight distribution - I'm so picky that I evenly distribute the weight by placing the battery in the trunk:evil:

no im not a racer. I heard that theres more tension or something and its just like having ur ac on. Whenever i turn my ac on a lose horsepower and my car drives very slow...well even slower than it does already.

with 138k miles on it you are very close to change your piston rings, honda engines dont last al long as domestics, cause they usually rev up a little more, probably you have lost some kPA of compression, have it checked.

As long as your question for for rewounding your amp: 750 watts= 1hp, so even if you would have a system with 1500 watts rems all the time you will onlly loose theorically like 2hp, I dont think think you will see any loss of power.

okay thanks alot. Do you know where i can get a alternator and also how many amps do u suggest. I have a jbl 1200.1 right now and might get a jl 300/2 for the components. thanks for the help

or maybe they think that the higher amp alt would require like 100x more power to turn the pulley. but i doubt you could even measure the difference on a dyno

okay what Im saying is for example, how often must you change your rings in a 2 stroke engine? (bikes) yeah more often than in your car why? because they usually go up to 7k or 8k RPM, now, Honda is well known for their vtec engines, they put out 100hp liter because they run at 7k or more RPM, so their piston rings receive more stress than for example a diesel engine, which may last like 500k miles.

Now domestic cars USUALLY dont rev up very much, considerating that 80% of the cars sold here have an automatic transmission which usually make shifts before 4k RPM or even before 3k RPM, their piston rings dont suffer very much, as a result you may have to fix your honda engine before your chevy-ford engine
