it did not work for me...i had to upgrade wiring...the second battery simply extended my motor off battery life

well its an 04 grand marquis and ive done 4ohm wiring, but i dont think i want to touch the alternator yet. the big three are alternator, battery and what? and do you mean by second battery or a stronger one, because i have a redtop optima so i might install that but i doubt itll help much, and whats wrong with capacitors?

oh and btw i read that mine has a 135 amp alternator, and they have 200 amp ones but theyre about $250 with shipping included...

I hope you mean 4 gauge.

The big 3 are not alternator, battery,.... Its part of the wiring. It's also what you need to do. Search in the wiring section of this forum. (There's even a sticky for it...)

Red Tops aren't designed for car audio, yellow tops are.

A second battery will not help with the dimming lights, it will only hurt the electrical because it's just another thing the alternator will have to recharge. If you bump with the car off, that's another story, and a battery would be worth it.

Capacitors are disliked on this board because they do not do anything basically. Do some searching, someone posted the math on how the battery is equal to some ridiculous amount of capacitors, thousands if I remember correctly. I've seen in some instances where capacitors help with dimming, but you are better off starting with the big 3, then battery, then alternator if you have to.
