So I am installing a Sundown SFB 2000w Mono , A Jensen 1000w 4 channel amp and a Jensen 600w 2 channel amp. I also have a Planet audio 2 Farrad capacitor. I am running 1/0 ga from Battery to a distribution block and then 4 ga to the 2 Jensen amps and 1/0 ga to the sundown amp. is it ok to put the capacitor before the distribution box, on the 1/0 wire from battery?

Those old style capacitors are supposed to be installed with short wires as close to the amplifier as possible. If just installing to monitor voltage, wiring at the distribution block as suggested should be fine. 2 farad isn't going to do much anyway for three amps like that, but a voltmeter could be cool if it has one on it.

I’d rather see a second battery in the back, and a better alternator of course, depending on what you already have. Those old style car audio capacitors just don’t do much of anything for most installs, like I said, the volt meter can be handy if it has one.

You would need to research the Maxwell super capacitors people use for car audio, that are several hundred dollars, and even those I’d leave to people doing competitions and such. For an everyday sound system, even a dual alternator setup for the money the caps cost, and the batteries to me are a better choice.

A bank of maxwell is about 300 total maybe less they're worth every penny. With that being said though a agm xs power may fit this particular build

I have a former police Tahoe. It has dual batteries and 170amp Alternator.

as long as its parallel with the power inputs, its going to work. best as close to the current hogs as possible, but also noise will show more in the mids and highs, so if you are trying to smooth noise, and not a power "brown out" on the bass, wire it closer to the mid amps... if you are going with caps, a cap bank unit is far more effective than large single caps. the most effective cap setup ive seen was a little 16farad remote switched cap bank that looked like a slightly thicker crossover unit. it really took the gimmick out of capacitors, given the vehicles small alternator, but thats pretty dangerous. the voltage still dips down; you just dont notice it anymore. great for electrical noise and actually enough to smooth out a big bass punch for a fraction of a second. if thats what you are after, then you can see how much more you need to bolster to make a decent difference. if you are more looking for power backup, then you need to direct your attention to the alternator, and suppliment its reaction time with the caps.

I don't understand why people have strong opinions about things they don't understand. Capacitors bridge the gap between current demand and alternator/battery current supply.

Lithium is next level.
