I need to know why most people perfer batteries over capacitors. Won't batteries make alternators work more to charge them, and why are batteries better?

caps have to be charged too. They'll probably go through 100 charge/discharge cycles in a single song.

batteries store hundreds of times more current, and some good ones have ESR rivaling the average capacitor.

its very dependant on load and the average constant draw . in almost all cases you are not going to kill a battery on 1 note unless you have obvious design flaws in your system. some songs cause more stress than others.. also use some common sense in what would apply to you when looking what others have done.

the point is your charging system should be able to charge the batteries so adding batteries to an electrical system that can't charge them is rather useless.

A battery is 100% better than a cap because the cap is able to hold only a fraction that a battery can, and cost the same if not more (depending on farads) than a battery.
