capacitor Question

What does a capacitor do? Does it help anything? I am debating on buying it or not .

I have a pioneer DEH-P80MP cd deck, Front speakers are Infinity , rear speakers are MB Quart speakers. Just picked up a Bassworx Dual box for my 2 10" MTX Subwoofer, P3001 Roxford Amp and a 4 Gauge Stinger HPM Amp kit.

Any suggestions or info i should know?

Is it too much to search the forum to see if the question's been asked?

1. The first part can be answered by a Google search.

2. Whether or not it does anything useful depends on your application. For power stiffening of a 12VDC charging system, I wouldn't recommend it. But yes - as electrical components, they do work.
