For maintaining voltage to a 1000W RMS amplifier (Alpine MRD-M1005) what is the best route to go...

1 Farad Capacitor

Optima Battery

or a new Alternator?

Will just adding the Capacitor, and/or the Optima battery help alone? Or am I stuck getting a new alternator?

have you hooked up this system and you need electrical help? first make sure your main power and ground wires are proper size. next big 3 (type big 3 in the search, it's been discussed numerous times) next HO alt. next optima yellowtop. a cap or another battery won't help unless you got something that can keep it charged, and if your electrical system is struggling, they won't help.

pass on the yellow top. If anything go with a red top as it will "store" a higher voltage. A yellow top will only do a max of 12.5 will a red willl do higher. But first off upgrade the "big 3" and if that doesn't work add another alt. Next add the battery. Do no put a cap in as it is just a waste of money and times.

Okay, I will check for BIG 3, but as it is now...

I have 4gu running to a fused distro block, with 4gu running to the sub amp, and 8gu running to the component amp, which is only doing like 50Wx2... The grounds are not grounded at the same location, but they are grounded on seat mounts, so that should be a good ground from past experiences...

I do not have an upgraded Alternator, or Cap, or Optima batter ATM.

Overheating is what I am experiencing the most with the current MTX 801D amplifier only that amp tho, not the component amp, which is an MTX 282 I beleive.... cant even remember, that amp has been very reliable in regards to overheating, etc... so I dont look at it too much since I installed it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

ive had yellow tops sit at 13.1 volts for over a month. they will charge higher than 12.5 without a problem, as will the blue tops.
