Can't decide. JL C5 650 or ID CXS64 v.2

Nice thanks for the quick replies. BEsides over priced are the C5s any good? They're on sale right now and they're actually cheaper than the IDs. So you guys are ruling out the XR comps and coax at 200 shipped? They are still new in the box. Spoke with matt from ID and he said 100 rms is fine for the CXS64s.

I'll search for funky pups.... Heh
coax have severe limits w/ tuning capabilities vs a component setup. I'd go w/ the ID over the JL. Especially if you can't find a good deal on some funky pups. Ask your dealer if he can get the funky pups, most dealers can get them.

I would run the id's. They have stronger mids and their tweeters are much better. The jl's have a pretty bright tweeter.
My next setup will actually consist of a pair of 2 ohm cx mids per door paired up with my id ultra full body horns
Yeah I'm starting to lean towards the IDs but **** the sale on the C5 is very tempting. I do like a mellow tweeter.

But seriously the XR comp and coax combo nib 200 shipped ... Worth it? Or just use that money to get a nice pair of comps for the front.

Well the comps will go up front and the coax will be rear fill. I figure 200

Form both sets ain't bad. But! I'd rather get 1 nice set of comps if those XRs aren't all that great. That's why I'm wondering if anybody here has heard them. I see a lot of mixed reviews on them.

I've had JL coax, nothing special. Get the comps & use the extra $$ for a nice beefy amp.

Already got one. 3 actually but just going to use one. Just picked up a JL HD900/5 for an awesome price. Otherwise i wouldn't of bought it. Got arc 4150cxlr and arc mini 125.4 laying around. The 125.4 will probably go in my girls car. The 4150.... It's too big, trying to sell it.

I've read the posts about the funky pups. Im beginning to think it's just a dust cap.

the search function here sucks, gotta look hard....ill see if I can find info for ya

Ahhhhh!!!!! HAT is still selling their damaged

Boxes of clarus 61 for a little cheaper. Still an expensive speaker though. This is worse then pro audio equipment shopping.

Dagnabit.

Well... Gotta conserve some money. Just installed a Compustar 1 way 3000 ft remote/alarm with the drone piece. Which ***** by the way. Doesn't work 70% of the time. Gonna see I'd they'll take the drone out and credit me for an actual two way 1500 ft LCD model. Then I'm getting a 2 way remote start for my girl for Christmas.

With all that in play I will probably go the cheaper route by buying the used XR650csi and csx for 200 shipped. Im just afraid of that metal tweeter. But with the xover attenuation and proper installation it should sound fine.

But.... JL is having a sale which ends Monday. Can get a pair of c3-650 for 258 shipped. I don't think I'm looking at the C5 anymore. Smaller tweeter is turning me off. If I was to get the C5 i might as well get the ID CXS 64v2. Only reason for consideration of the C5 and C3 is because of mounting depth ... Easier installation without hacking out the door mount hole.

I hate everything. Now I gotta search thru the threads about Roof flashing aluminum backing for deadening. I bought the first production of raamat back in the day... 2 big rolls of it too. That crap melted like crazy in the summer time. So needless to say I'm a little paranoid about alternative deadening materials for my new car.

I hate everything
