Cannot restore ipod

Its one of the first gen nanos, i go to clear it and restore back to factory settings and it says it cannot because its in use by another application? Whats up with that, i can't find where else i would be using it.

Reset it by holding down the right buttons i forget which ones. Than after that reconnect it and try to restor it.

to reset it:

switch the hold button on, then off.

Hold down the middle button and the menu button until you get the apple logo (may take like 10 secs)

Its either the menu and middle button or middle and play/pause button. Im almost positive it's menu/middle button.
