Cancellation

Today I had some time on my hands so I stopped into a local shop to look at some equipment. The guy at the shop showed me a book with some picks of custom installs that their shop had done. They had some really cool looking installs. I saw one install that kind of puzzed me a little though. There was an all JL Audio install in a Chevy Caprice where the subs were on opposite sides of the trunk (in seald custom enclosures) facing each other. Now I know I'm a super noob and have a very limited knowledge of car audio but the first thing that ran through my mind was that there has to be cancellation going on there. I started searching through installs on the net and found that this was not an uncommon type of install. Is cancellation a problem in that kind of install? Attached is a similar install to what I saw.

naw they shouldnt cancel eachother out

now if the were like 3 inches from eachother a problem could arise
