can you connect an ipod into a din connector???

i just bought a jvc kd-lh300 head unit, which apparently does NOT have an mp3 input jack, BUT deep in the options, there is an option labeled "ext input" (referring to the din i suppose) in there its either a cd changer or "line in." what would that line in be for and the real question... could i somehow connect my ipod into that???
