Ported box would generally be recommended for SPL (loudness.)

Whats your budget on an amp?

Do you already have the wiring, materials for a box, etc?

Any amp that produces up to 1200-1300 watts @ 2ohms. Unless those are DVC (dual voice coil) subs. Then a amp stable @ 1ohm.

Actually would not be backwards. Just another option.

You will have a better chance finding a class D amp that is stable @ 2ohms, rather than 8ohms.

Even a 1000 watt a/b amp would do fine.

Brand matters yes. To a certain point.

Stay away from over rated cheap gear like - Legacy, Pyle, Boss, Pyramid, Some MA amps, Sony...

Any decent brand you should know already.

Fosgate, Kicker, ED, JBL, Alpine, Orion, Directed, JL...

Look around on the forums and do some searching

Class D amps are more efficient than A/B 2 channel amps. It might be easier to find a 2 channel amp rather than a Mono stable @ 2ohms. Either one will work great.

Jl would be good (those are regualted power supply right guys??? if they are it'd be good), you just need an amp that will handle 1000-1200 watts at 2 ohms, it oculd be a bridged 2 channel but mono would probably be easier to find....from how much it sounds like you know make sure that yah ask some people before you plop them in any old ported box....

Oh and i agree with him on the ripoff part....

you can get 1000w for alot less than the 1000/1 but it's still a fine amp...
