Can my amp push a 3 ohm sub?

should work good. Probably the amp will put out around 500watts rms @ 3ohm. Just adjust the gain so your sub doesn't bottom out and theirs no clipping. That sub handles around 400watts rms, looking at the jl power chart. So I say it will work out pretty well.

I tried to figure this out but I want to run 1 jl 13" tw5 and it shows that it is 3 ohm. The amp that will be pushing it is a alpine mrp m 650. Will this amp be able to give good performance for this sub in a box built to spec? Thanks.
Sure, why not?

do you have a dmm?

if you do play this tone, with speakers unplugged. put the pins in where the wires go set it to ac volts.

adjust the gain knob until you see the number. 35 that should set it to 400 watts at 3 ohms. see how well the sub plays.

note: set all eq and bass bost to 0 and turn off loud first.

thats ohm load(3) x rms power(400 for your sub, unsure for amp so went with 400)=1200 you then take the square root which is 34.6xxxx rounded it up to 35.

if you dont have a dmm, then just play it by ear, is the sub is bottoming out, back off the gains abit.
