Can loose RCA's cause clipping?

I just got a new aq1200d and it has the clipping indicator on the bass knob. there wasn't as much output as i was hoping and the clipping light was almost constantly on. so i looked at the RCA's and they were loose so i tightened them and there was much better output from the sub after that and the clipping light doesn't even come on anymore. so did the loose RCA's stop the clipping or did i just break the clipping indicator? it's about 4 days old
