Can it be done? talkin LEDs

I wanna add some mood lighting to my amp.

Here's the challenge...

I want to add a LED inside the amp so that the front vents holes illuminate. I'm wondering if I can tap in to the power indicator light to power the led. I figured I could hot glue the led to the back of the amps cover. So if you think its possible give me some tips on doin it. Or is there another way of working the LED of the power from the remote power lead from the head unit?

Light emitting diodes don't talk, yet. However, word emitting diodes do. I suggest buying some of them.

I would do it by means of a relay. Different LED's draw different amperages, whether a remote supplies enough current I'm not sure. You can wire a relay to the battery and the remote though and use it like that, then wire in a resistor to get the 12V from the car down to 3.6 or so depending on the LED being used.

Hooking up the LED's can definitely be done though, it's just a matter of figuring out a way. What about through the lighter? Or something else switched on with the ACC.

Should be fine as long as:

A> You wire them up right and they can't short out

B> You don't go all buck nutty and tie 18,000 led's in there

C> Don't go using 1 watt luxeon LED's

Power the amp up and measure the voltage at the stock led. Go from there..
