can i tune low??

whats up guys i have been talkin with ram for another box plan well i wait for him to get back to me i wana know what u guys think about this audiopipe 8 inch sub tune low. i know i know there crap waste of money but tbh im just looking to build some boxs to get used to using my new tools and its a good way to keep busy and out out of the back of a cop car.

anyways im gona do 4 of them subs of port back wana go for 32 hz there gona see 125 rms each then there gona see 200 each when i get a new amp. i seen some one do 12 of these and he ways playing some lower bass notes and they did not miss a beat. (you tube video) thanks my lovs

i do wana add i built a box for a single 8 sub up port back tune to 30 . i had one of the subs in the back off my home reciver and it played the lower notes but the sub was seeing like 30 watts. i played some of the normal lower bass note songs and for the most part it played down to 30 just fine.

hell do it my type rs loved 25hz and my dd9518 loves it too but it smokes pretty quick

well i called a budy of mine that is on here. he said the same thing i should just use some comon sense and dont go way past rated power and just build the box good and if i start to smell the coils then i can go from there as far as what i want to do. my kenwood amp has a subsonic it says 25 off and i think 50 i wana set it to 25 and just make sure i dont play low notes all day.

I heard a 8" dd on you tube- it gets down. And it was NOT quiet. Low bass was more solid and more sq than my 15.

A good sub will kill the lows even tuned above 30.

the rms is 175 ish im gona tune them to 32 i know there not gona get crazy loud i just want them to move some air.im just worried if they will bottom out or burn up the coils they have 1.5 coils . based on the specs i gave and the rated power what ya guys think?

but for tuning i guess you don't need the VAS. so yeah, i'd rather tune lower than recommended and get a flatter response and lower extension. modeling is showing anything

thats what my buddy said i would b better off goin with 32 over 40 and just watch the gain and just take it easy for the first week and see how they do. i know they might not like the lower tunning and they might wana play closer to there fs wich is 43ish. there audiopipe 8s there just some subs to mess around with. i know there is alot better options but for the money and what im looking to do i just wanted somthing to mess around with.

ok im off to program if u guys need more info please just ask but i think i went over what i want to do and the sub specs . i do have one in a box that is .6 tune to 30 that i built . im gona try it out today and see how one does on its rated power. thanks

only 8s ive had to play with were the sa-8s but we tuned them down to 30 and then back up between 34-70 playing around, they seemed to like it all, if you tune that low though dont expect to get an even frequency response. btw ive never heard of low notes smoking subs. yall is clippin yo moofers. we also put like 1500 to the pair of those 8s daily ftw.

thanks i have just one sub on close to rated power and it dont like the lower notes. see even though my box i have now is tune to 30 it will still play up to 40-50 alot better. i guess 35-38 would b better i will just hold off cuz i think in the end i would b pissed. i could just put the subs in my girl car when she gets one.

I would assume that lower tuning is safer for the speakers. Playing frequencies below the tuning of the port results in an effect of not even having a box the lower you go, meaning the speaker will be barely damped and will take relatively little power to reach its mechanical limits. With a higher tuning frequency, you'll get much more SPL around the "hump" region, but you'll need to set the high-pass filter higher to protect the speaker. At 40 Hz, that means you might be missing out on some of the bottom-octave tones.
