Can I add 3" or 4" speakers to my comps?

my current setup is a component set of cdt ef-62 i believe. its the woofer with the carbonfiber cone. i have that running to my jl audio 300/2 amp. i was wanting to add some 3" or 4" speakers to make a 3 way setup. what all would i need to change to be able to do this? i have the upgraded 580i crossovers as well. any help would be greatly appreciated.

i dont know the "best" way, but you can always get a 4ch. and 2ch. amp and run it all active. That is the way i would go.

would the average ear tell the difference between passive and active? im a newbie to car audio

couldn't you just theoretically replace the tweets with the 3"?

well i would want to keep the tweets and mids, but just primarily add the extra smaller woofer. to get a more well rounded sound.
