can DCONs get decently loud?

In what sense are they not on the same level? I'm just wondering what you mean?
OP why are you getting rid of your SA 12?
i also want to know what he means by it not being on the same level
and mostly because i want to try something new i get bored of the same set up. also cuz there's a pretty big gash in the sub idk if it makes too big of a difference though. also no one i know has 8's so i can be original as fuck with some 8's if i got those. but i'd want to know if i could do better than those first

Back to what I asked earlier. Here is your best possible answer you can get here.

Go measure the area that you will be ok with using for an enclosure. Then post them up. This information will help more then anyone's opinion on what they think will or won't work in your application.

I understand wanting to try something new. I have first hand experience with the sa 8 v1 and the DCON's The SA's are great little subs but you would have more cone area with the DCON's The DCON's get surprisingly loud on very little power. Sorry but I don't have any experience with the sa 8 v2. Ultimately it will come down to what size box you can fit in the trunk optimally.

i can get about 2 cubic feet at most that i'd like to use. 30 inches is the widest while 10 inches is the tallest i can go and depth would be a little less than 20 inches most likely. idk if that helps at all with what you're asking
You said you were worried about the 8's not getting low enough. . . . check out the 09 suby build log on here. Just 1 sa-8 v.2 on 500 watts. Peaked at 27htz.
alright i'll have to check it out

yeah that's what i heard with DCON's is that they can get pretty loud off little power and i'd be overpowering them a little bit so i'm hoping they can get decently loud. i've heard the v2's can get pretty **** loud for 8's though

They are audibly louder. a Ported box is generally a bit more peakier and will have a certain frequency where it is loudest. and it will do best on a spl meter. Where as a T line is Line isnt peaky at all and has a loud flat response. But in your case I would not reccomend 1-sa8 atleast not in a T line enclosure, at least not in this situation. Aslong as you can fit the the two 10 inch dcons into a correctly sized enclosure in your trunk go with them. If not do the two 8s.

the enclosure would be a little smaller than preferred for the 10s and it'd be good for the 8's so i'm kind of leaning towards the 8's now. but does anyone know how well the vvx 8's would compare to the v2's?

Sa 8 v2 > VVX in every way.

yeah i'd be smart with the gain of course. i feel like you would probably know best out of anyone else for this question but would they be able to get loud/low in a smaller enclosure? they'd probably be getting around a cubic foot each and i'd tune them around 30 hz and i'm really interested in getting these subs they look nice
One cube is fine for a Dcon 10 ported, especially if you plan on more power. You can always add a little polyfill. Side note thought, the Dcon's are out for a little while longer while we are waiting for the motor build run to get finished.

oh ok thanks for the heads up it's probably going to be awhile before i change systems though. but in your honest opinion how do you think it'd compare side by side to two sa-8 v2's? if you've had any experience with them
