Can anyone tell me if I can use a flip out screen in my 2003 Impala?

The way my dash is designed, it doesn't appear so, but I'd like to hear from someone in the know instead of guessing.

I've been taking a good look at the Eclipse AVN7000, but I'm thinking that I'm going to have to do a double din unit, like the AVN6610. But, that can't be paired with the DCU-150 processor.

Any other suggestions for a double din unit that would be comparable to the Eclipse in SQ?

Ok, according to Crutchfield, none of the Eclipse units will fit in my car. Why not? Does anyone know?

Now I don't know what units to consider. I wanted the Eclipse SQ, but also a DVD player.

I am very discouraged right now.

I'm not sure ...but can't you fit a double DIN touchscreen in that dash? I know you can in most newer GM's.....

A Kenwood 8019 fits, the Alpine IVA-W205 fits, the Pioneers fit. So, I don't know why they're saying the Eclipses won't fit. And the AVN 7000 is a single din, but it says that won't fit. When I choose other single din units, they say they fit, but give me a warning on the bottom of the page that a flip out screen may not work in my car because of the configuration of the dash.

So, for some reason, Eclipse units don't work, which, like I said, is confusing to me.

well its pretty obvious to me why the flip out screens wont work. you have a 2 inch lip on the top of your dash that will fck up a flip out. i dont understand why they are saying that a DD unit wont work though.

because in most cases you need to do a bit of trimming to the dash mabe even bending the heating vent tubes a bit hell I have a DD in my cavalier

i have a 2004 impala and u can use a flip out but u will have to modify your kit to make it work with the lip. but when u do that u cant use the tilt feature or adjust it so u can c so its a waste. but i have a double din in mine pioneer d3. u just have to break some of the plastic behind the dash and it fits perfectly
