so i paid for a used amp and got a blown amp from some one... need to see if anyone can fix this thing.
autotek MX-5000
at about half power the amp goes into protect. however it seems to do just fine with test tones. i tuned it with a dmm, had the gain up about half way. 50hz tone. then i put on a song and the gain needs to be below 1/4 for it not to go into protect. at 1/4 gain and 45/62 volume itll protect easily. so not even 4v going out of the hu.
i poped it open and i can see evidence of a repair job. looks like half the chips that run on the outside of the board (under the heat sinks) half been replaced. number on those is "fmg33r". no idea if thats whats wrong but they all have cold solder joints so it could be a problem.
anyone have any idea what might be wrong here and can anyone fix it? idea of how much itll cost? maybe some one will make me a nice deal since i got screwed.
