happening in this video?
Cuz I want some JL subs that flex liek that. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
video is old, i think its been posted many times here before anyway.....
looks like an improvement to a suspension system, of course... one would need to measure it with a non-linear tool like a klippel to get a better understanding of the compliance curve.
but you cant just mod a woofer like that and expect it to work with good results, there i a reason those are all prototypes. None of those motors support enough linear BL to work beoynd what they already do. If that is indeed a modd'ed W7, its throw is only as good as the coil minum the gap height.
for example a 13W7 is unless past 2.5" p2, IOW > 10% THD.
linear suspension is good, but you need BL to go with it, and of courser linear inductance too to eliminate flux modulation. But for the lower frequency stuff, suspension and BL dominate the THD.
also X-max doest really dictate everything, you're not gonna see that kind of displacement above 20Hz unless you got a galizzion watts of power or a way to eliminate mass.
But suspension improves are an important area to study in transducer design. Spider **** honestly!
