Can a Farad cap leak?

I just bought a farad cap on ebay and it seems to be leaking a bit from the top. Can i still use it if i mount it upright or am i in danger of really tearing something up using it?

The gel should only ooze out if it has been hooked up backwards (that plug is there to allow it to do that, if it wasn't, it could explode), if it is leaking, I'd immediately assume the unit is defective....

You can try... remove all of the leaking electrolytic gel from the cap that is oozing out, but the unit is damaged, if you purchased it recently and are justing hooking it up for the first time, I suggest you ask to return it for a unit that isn't a defect.... You will not get optimal performance or storage from that device as it sits...
